    Bad Rumors

Well, the groups all have rumors floating around that referrals that will come out this month are only through the end of May. Since our LID is July 8th, we will most likely not be getting a referral either this month or April. The rumors state that it could be June or July before we get our referral. I really don't know how much more of this I can take. Maybe next week will bring better news than the rumors floating around.

The CCAA has posted that the dossiers logged into their system through July 31st are now finished being reviewed. That means our next stop is the matching room and then referral!!!!!!!!!!!! We are so anxious waiting for the news to come.

Well, here we are .......... eight months LID and still no referral. We are hoping and praying that we will be getting our referral call this month but we are also reluctant to get too excited.

It has now been seven months since our LID and we were supposed to be getting a referral this month but that will be no go.......... maybe next month!

Christmas has come and gone and still no news about a referral. Since the CCAA announced that referrals are now taking 9-10 months, we will no longer be receiving a referral next month as we had originally expected. It looks like now it could be April or May with traveling in June or July.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We now have a LID (log in date). This means that our dossieris now sitting among thousands of others awaiting the right baby to come along. At that time, we will be matched with our Ella. The CCAA ( Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs) supposedly matches our passport photos to her picture. Now, we just wait for the referral call to come!

GREAT NEWS! We are DTC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This means that our dossier is complete and is being mailed off to China for final preparation for the referral process. It will take China about 1-2 weeks to translate our documents and then we receive our LID (log in date). The LID means that our dossier has officially been logged into the Chinese CCAA computer system.

On the way to class, I sent our completed home study on to the Sault Ste. Marie USCIS officer for our 171H approval. This is the last form we need before we can be DTC. Looks like we could be DTC either this month or in June.

We received our approved home study in the mail today. We were so ecstatic to get it so soon as this is one of the major documents we need to complete our dossier. This means that we are one GIANT step closer to having our dossier sent to China (DTC).

Today was our home visit by our social worker, Audrey. We had cleaned the house for days and even did some gardening and touch-up painting for this visit. We were so worried that we wouldn't pass her inspection. She was very nice and professional. She even commented on my panda collection. It's nice to know that our home study is now completed, now we just wait for the call or email that it's complete.

Fingerprint appointment downtown Detroit at 8:00 a.m. It was quick and easy but they had to redo my prints twice as my fingers weren't that cooperative. Oh well, at least that part is over!

Had our individual Home Study appointments today. I went first then Randy went in. It was not nearly as daunting as we had expected it to be.

Sent in our first payment to AWAA for our program fees. One of many of course!

Sent I-600A form (Immigration form) off to Sault Ste. Marie which will lead to our fingerprinting appointment and the 171H form that we need when we send off our dossier to China. The 171H form is basically approval from the U.S. government to bring an orphan back into the United States from another country.

Got the call at work today at 11:01 a.m. that we were approved to adopt through the China program. My students were so quiet because they knew I was expecting a VERY important call  to come through. They are so excited to meet Ella. Some of them even cried when they saw me crying. I didn't call Randy right away because I wanted to surprise him. I stopped by KMart on the way home and bought the cutest pair of booties and a bib that said, "I Love Daddy." When I pulled into the driveway, I put the booties by the gear shift and hung the bib from the  rear-view mirror. I then proceeded into the house and asked Randy to go back out and get my school bag. As he headed out to the driveway, I watched through the kitchen window as he opened the back door, looked through to the front seat, and hurriedly snatched the bib off and came running in the house. We were very excited, not knowing that we had such a long journey ahead of us.

Today we submitted our online application to our agency America World Adoption Association (AWAA) along with the application fee. It was a BIG step for us. We had met with our parents separately the over the last 8 days about our decision to adopt rather than continuing to try infertility treatments to get pregnant. It was wonderful having our families' support.

Well, we began the adoption process in 2005 attending an adoption meeting with America World in Saginaw, MI on February 18th. From that meeting, we were able to meet other parents considering adoption as well as families that have adopted. All the way home, we talked about the process of adoption. I believe that it was that day that we made a firm commitment to adopt.
